By using FLIP, you agree to these Terms of Service. We've written them in plain
English to be as clear and fair as possible. If you have questions, contact us at

1. Who Can Use FLIP
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account
- You're responsible for keeping your account secure
- One person, one account (no fake or duplicate accounts)
2. How FLIP Works
For Collectors:
- You claim pickups from the map and collect bottles from donors
- You're responsible for redeeming bottles at authorized recycling centers
- You earn the full CRV value minus a 5% platform fee (deducted before payout)
- You maintain professional, respectful conduct with donors
For Donors:
- You post bottle pickups with accurate counts and locations
- You leave bottles accessible for the matched collector
- You confirm pickup completion in the app
- You provide honest ratings based on actual experience
3. Payments
Collector Earnings:
- Weekly direct deposits every Friday
- Minimum $10 threshold for payout
- You're responsible for any taxes on your earnings
- Disputed pickups may be held pending investigation
Platform Fees:
- Collectors: 5% fee on earnings (already deducted from displayed amounts)
- Donors: Free to post bottles
- We reserve the right to adjust fees with 30 days notice
4. User Conduct
You agree NOT to:
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users
- Claim pickups you don't intend to complete
- Provide false information about bottle counts or locations
- Share your account with others
- Attempt to manipulate ratings or game the system
- Use the platform for any illegal purpose
5. Safety
- Always prioritize your personal safety during pickups
- Report suspicious activity immediately
- Follow all local laws and regulations
- FLIP is not responsible for interactions between users
6. Ratings and Reviews
- Ratings must be honest and based on actual experience
- We may remove fake or abusive reviews
- Low ratings may result in reduced access to premium jobs
- Repeated violations may result in account suspension
7. Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts for:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraudulent activity
- Harassment or discrimination
- Repeated no-shows or false listings
You'll receive warning before termination except in cases of serious violations.
You can appeal any termination decision.
8. Intellectual Property
- FLIP owns all platform code, design, and content
- You retain ownership of content you post (photos, reviews, etc.)
- By posting content, you grant FLIP a license to display it on the platform
- Don't use FLIP branding without written permission
9. Liability
- FLIP is a platform connecting users; we're not an employer
- We're not liable for disputes between collectors and donors
- We provide the platform "as is" without warranties
- Our liability is limited to the amount you've paid us (platform fees)
10. Dispute Resolution
If you have a problem:
- Contact us at support@flipbottles.org
- We'll investigate and respond within 5 business days
- If unresolved, disputes are handled through binding arbitration in California
11. Changes to Terms
- We may update these Terms occasionally
- Significant changes require 30 days notice
- Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms
- Material changes affecting workers will be voted on by the community
12. Worker Rights
FLIP supports your right to:
- Organize with other collectors
- Participate in democratic platform governance
- Access transparent earnings data
- Report issues without retaliation
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by California law. Any legal proceedings must be in
San Francisco County, California.
